Hundreds of local residents have signed our petition to save the footbridge crossing the Grand Union Canal between Marnham Fields in Greenford and Smiths Farm Estate in Northolt in the past 24 hours alone. The strong response shows how the bridge is viewed as a vital public asset and must be saved.
One local resident commented on community Facebook page ‘Greenford (UB6) Friends’ which has almost 9,000 members, “Signed, as we used to use this regularly & far more pleasant than having to walk along the A40.”
Another said, “That’s sad. They replaced it from the old concrete bridge then failed to maintain the new one.”
Questions remain as to why the bridge was allowed to deteriorate to the point where it became unsafe to use and had to be fenced off for public safety.
This just adds to the widespread option that the area has been greatly neglected in recent years.
Please continue to sign the petition below. Together, we can make a difference!
