Residents in Ealing North will have received a leaflet from the council urging them to sign the councils petition to save the A & E's in the borough. So far this petition has collected almost 10,000 signatures.
The Conservative group in Ealing have joined with Labour in fighting the changes proposed by North West London NHS, but are focussing on trying to get residents to take part in the consultation, rather than just signing a petition.
Hobbayne Ward Cllr, Colm Costello said, "We really need residents to take part in the consultation. Signing petitions is all well and good, I've signed it myself, but we have been told by Dr Mark Spencer, who is leading on the consultation for the NHS, that the only way they will change direction is if there is something in the response to the consultation that makes them think again. In other words, they won't pay a blind bit of notice to a petition".
Residents can fill in the consultation online here. It is not easy to do, so residents might want to read this guidance prepared by Ealing SOS on how to fill it in here.
Northolt Mandeville Cllr, Eileen Harris said, "If we are to have any chance of saving our A & E's in Ealing, we really need residents to fill in the consultation. The council should really do more to encourage this, and not just focus on it's petition".
